  Accommodation

Size matters! At least it does when it comes to accommodation for rabbits, guinea pigs and other small furry creatures. It is vital they have space to hop, run, move and explore. They need to be cool and comfortable and at Fur Tree Lodge I provide them with 5 star luxury accommodation and treatment for a 2 star price! All of my accommmodation either meets or exceeds RSPCA welfare guidelines regarding hutch size for rabbits and guinea pigs.

Redwood Lodge

I also have 1 truly enormous lodge that is 6ft wide by 2 ft deep, that sits on a wonderful outdoor area. It has a living area, bedroom and an outdoor area for your pets comfort and enjoyment. The outdoor area it has is attached to the lodge via a ladder. The outdoor area is 6ft wide by 4ft deep. This means your pet has a total of 36 square feet of space to enjoy. This lodge is roomy and comfortable, and allows your pet as much room as possible to move and play. It is ideal for boarding 2 or more pets that are sharing. If you wish to book this lodge for a single pet, then a double occupancy charge applies. This lodge may need to be booked in advance, so if you would like to book it then please contact me ASAP.

Maple Tree Lodge

I have 1 lodge that is slightly smaller than the others, which is more suited to guinea pigs or smaller breed rabbits. It is 4ft wide by 2ft deep and sits on a 4ft wide by 4ft deep run. It has a more gently inclined ladder for your 'littlies' to negotiate and as a result, it is a comfortable and safe haven for little piggies/rabbits with short legs, but with a need to explore. This lodge has a solid plastic floor which makes it very easy to keep clean.

Clover Cottage

Brand new for 2016 is this beautiful handmade double hutch. It is 4ft wide by 3ft deep and has extra high ceilings, so that even larger rabbits can stand up on their back legs and enjoy a good stretch! It is incredibly solid, extremely secure and is made from only the best materials available. I am extremely proud of it and cannot wait for the first guests to stay in it and enjoy it this year. The photos don't do the size of this hutch justice, as its depth really does make it very large, roomy and bright.

Compared to some other small animal hotels the lodges are extremely roomy, comfortable and modern. They are secure and private and are excellently weather proofed so that your animal is totally safe and protected during their stay.

Fur Tree Lodge has had a full refurbishment this year, and everything is as new and ready to be used again.  I am very proud to keep my accommodation in immaculate condition, providing the best experience possible for your pets stay.

Indoor Lodges

PLEASE NOTE THAT AS FROM OCTOBER 2OTH 2015 I WILL NO LONGER BE ABLE TO TAKE INDOOR RABBITS, OR OTHER ANIMALS THAT REQUIRE FULL RUN OF MY INDOOR ROOM. SOME SMALLER ANIMALS SUCH AS HAMSTERS, GERBILS, MICE AND TORTOISES MAY BE CONSIDERED DEPENDING ON HOW BUSY I AM AND THE TIME OF THE YEAR IT IS. APOLOGIES FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE CAUSED. IF YOUR INDOOR ANIMAL HAS STAYED WITH ME BEFORE, ENQUIRIES ARE WELCOMED BUT I CANNOT GUARANTEE I WILL BE ABLE TO ACCOMMODATE YOUR INDOOR ANIMAL AGAIN.

Toys and Entertainment

Your small animal will be provided with various toys for their entertainment. These include 'kongs' that can be stuffed with vegetables and treats, tunnels for them to run through, bells and wooden blocks. The toys I provide are toys that can be thoroughly washed so that no germs are passed on from pet to pet.

Fur Tree Lodge was built with your pets happiness and welfare at the forefront of its design, which makes it the perfect choice for boarding your pet either on a long term or short term basis.

A note on rabbit safety - just for your knowledge!

Please note that due to the common and very dangerous rabbit parasite E Cuniculi, rabbits must never be housed on grass when staying in animal hotels. They must be housed on inedible and easily cleaned flooring. All of the lodges at Fur Tree Lodge are placed on concrete, which has been disinfected prior to your pets arrival. All of the hay, straw, sawdust and vegetables that are provided are completely fresh for your treasured friend, which greatly minimises the chance of any disease or parasite spreading or transferring from rabbit to rabbit. If your rabbit is ever offered accommodation that is not placed on a non porous or inedible surface, it has a large risk of picking up a nasty disease or parasite - even if it has been vaccinated! Please be rabbit aware when looking for hotel accommodation!

Myxomatosis and VHD

Myxomatosis is a very common rabbit disease that is easily spread through fly bites and insects, as well as (less commonly) rabbit to rabbit. It was deliberately introduced to the UK to control wild rabbit populations, and unfortunately pet rabbits can be highly susceptible to this fatel disease. It is recommended that you vaccinate your rabbit against Myxomatosis and VHD before their stay at Fur Tree Lodge, otherwise your bunny may be at risk of contracting Myxomatosis.

VHD is less common, however not unheard of and kills rabbits within 48 hours of getting it. It is highly contagious and very dangerous and is spread by rabbits coming into contact with anything that has the virus on it! This can be other rabbits, clothing, shoes, toys or anything else that has not been thoroughly cleaned. VHD can be vaccinated against alongside Myxomatosis and the dual vaccine costs around £35 per bunny - well worth it to save your rabbits life! If your rabbit is not vaccinated please consider getting it done before it stays at Fur Tree Lodge. Fur Tree Lodge will not accept responsibility for animals becoming ill whilst they are in our care.

Flystrike

Flystrike is an awful condition that mainly affects rabbits that are overweight, old or infirm or that cannot clean themselves thoroughly. A fly lands on a rabbits wound or unclean area, lays its eggs and then the eggs hatch into maggots which use your rabbit as their food! (I won't go into anymore detail than that). Fortunately it is preventable. When your rabbit is booked in at Fur Tree Lodge we strongly recommend it has been treated with Rear Guard before its stay in order to help prevent this awful condition from occuring. Rear Guard can be bought from Amazon or from your local vet and treats a rabbit for 1 year to guard against flystrike.

PLEASE READ FUR TREE LODGE'S TERMS AND CONDITIONS VERY CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU BOOK YOUR PET IN TO STAY. WHILST THEY SEEM SERIOUS, IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU AGREE WITH THEM FOR THE WELFARE AND HAPPINESS OF YOUR PET.
